Glasgow Monthly Meeting

September 13 @ 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

September Meeting: Discovering Restrepia & Practical Propagation

Join us for an afternoon dedicated to one of the most distinctive genera within the Pleurothallidinae — Restrepia. These compact orchids are admired for their elegant form and habit of producing successive blooms from a single leaf, rewarding growers with colour and character throughout the year. Our introduction will explore what makes Restrepia so special, from their miniature growth to their remarkable floral diversity.

Following this, Christine Nicholson the Orchid Proagator at Glasgow Botanic Gardens will lead a hands‑on demonstration showing how to propagate Restrepia using leaf cuttings — a simple, effective technique for expanding your collection and sharing plants with fellow enthusiasts

We look forward to seeing you there for an afternoon of learning and hands‑on orchid growing.

There will be our usual table display, so bring your flowering orchids for us all to admire. Teas, coffee and cake will be available.

General Information

Our Glasgow meetings offer a friendly and relaxed space to learn more about orchids, whether you’re just starting out or have years of growing experience. Each session features either an illustrated talk or a practical demonstration led by our resident experts, who are always happy to answer questions on cultivation, pests, diseases, and general orchid care.

You’ll also find a table show of members’ plants — a great chance to see a variety of orchids, share ideas, and enjoy informal conversation with fellow enthusiasts. Refreshments are available throughout the afternoon.

Doors open at 1:30pm, and your first visit is free. If you’re curious about orchids or simply want to meet friendly growers, you’ll be very welcome.
