DESCRIPTION:April Meeting:\nFor our final April gathering\, we’re delighted to bring the World Orchid Conference presentation to Edinburgh. This session will feature another selection of photographs giving members one more chance to enjoy the displays\, plants\, and highlights that made the trip so special. Join us in Edinburgh for an enjoyable evening of orchids\, conversation\, and shared discoveries. \nGeneral Information:\nOur meetings in Edinburgh can consist of an illustrated talk or practical sessions where you can learn aspects of orchid cultivation under the guidance of our resident experts who will also be happy to answer your queries on orchid cultivation and/or pest and disease control. We usually have a table show of members’ plants with plenty of opportunities to socialise and exchange ideas. There is a monthly raffle and refreshments are available. SUMMARY:Ayr & District Flower Show
DESCRIPTION:A much-loved fixture in the Ayrshire calendar for many years\, The Ayr & District Flower Show was established in 2017 to keep the event running for the public and is the only flower show running in Ayr and the Scottish Orchid Society will be displaying for the fourth consecutive year.​ \nSet up as a Flower Show that is based around horticulture and focusing on the plants and traders\, the A&DFS gives everyone a chance to show off a variety of works to the general public in the hope of taking home one of our keepsake prizes for best on the class.​ \nHeld at Ayr Racecourse\, there is a variety of thing’s to see under the roof of the Ayrshire Suite and surrounding marquee’s that feature different craft and traders for everyone to see. More than just flowers on display. There is also a variety of entertainment on offer over the two days of the show ranging from Scottish dance to 50’s/60’s/blues music\, and much more \nOpen 10am to 5pm\, with free parking. Accompanied children under 16 are free.
