British Orchid Council Judging Symposium
October 4, 2025 @ 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
The British Orchid Council (BOC) runs the National training scheme for orchid judges and arranges Judging Symposiums (usually two times a year) at orchid shows and other events at different venues throughout the UK. These are aimed at Trainee Judges to allow them to view as wide a selection of orchids as possible and to learn to judge plants for themselves. The training programme applies and teaches the rules in developing orchid judges to international accepted standards of accreditation. After a period of time and subject to achieving the overall pass mark, a Trainee may be deemed to have become a qualified BOC Orchid Judge and is able to judge at events worldwide. After qualifying judges are encouraged to attend symposiums in order to maintain their skills levels.
Currently the Scottish Orchid Society has seven qualified judges amongst its members.
